I see a lot of bestie boos, including our tiktok star, deciding that now, episode 8 "sob stories" will be the end of bucktommy.
However, I don't believe that for multiple reasons, but here's a receipt that those of you who constantly hate read this blog can see.
This is an interview with Oliver.
Tumblr media
"And then in episode 6, there's a lot of clarity on where their relationship is at and a lot of truths learned about each other. I think it's going to be a really great episode."
This means that we, the audience, will be able to clearly see where the relationship is going all within episode 6. If it was going to end, Oliver wouldn't have worded it this way. Especially when he says it'll be a great episode.
There is no way Oliver would call Buck breaking up with ANOTHER partner as "great." He's commented that he wants Buck off the hamster wheel, and he wants to explore domestic things for Buck.
Learning truths about each other doesn't have to be negative. It could be about wanting kids, getting married, traveling together, what they see their lives like in 10 years, their hopes, their dreams... all things that you should talk about in a relationship.
I mean, Madney did it very casually when they discussed having kids.
To my fellow bucktommy fans: Don't let the negativity and the false confidence of the loud ones make you doubt what we're clearly seeing on our screens ❤️

a little sum of oliver starks interview for those who havent/cant watch:
-oliver moved to LA for a girl !??!?
-oliver goes into interviews with an american accent so they don’t realize he’s british
-he thinks that the reason buck was finally able to openly be bisexual was because of tim coming back to the writing team instead of the network change from fox to ABC
-more kisses to come that are initiated by buck
-oliver thought that buck was going to get killed off at the beginning of season 2 (not bc anyone told him, he just thought so)
-oliver has always known that buck was yearning for something but was never sure what it was, and he thinks that his bisexuality is really freeing for his character
-oliver is vegan for ethical reasons more than anything
-him and aisha gush over angela basset
-most of the cast do almost all of their own stunts
-re buddie: “theres obviously stuff there” “theres a chemistry between them” “i definitely see that as a potential storyline” but he wants to make sure it isn’t the case where a character comes out and suddenly all his guy friends are accusing him of having a crush on him

Ali made a post about the interviews.
The misdirection in the interviews was inevitable the moment that episode ended. That episode was blatant GAY Eddie foreshadowing. The final scene of that episode was basically confirmation of where this thing is going. And even the jurnos said that. But the show isn't ready for that yet. The characters aren't ready for that yet. They each still have some of their own stuff to figure out before they're ready. Oliver did not tell people that he wanted a slow burn and for the audience to go through the ups and downs of a will they or won't they just to come out in an interview and say 'Buddie canon in 3 episodes'. That's not how this is going to go. They are going to build this up. Ryan always overcorrects in interviews when he's trying to play things down. It's his default setting. There's nothing wrong with that. But they both also made a point of saying that 'they don't know what the future holds' so when the time comes and they do go canon no one can say they lied. They do know where it's going but they're not allowed to tell you that, yet. That's PR 101. I understand that media literacy is not as common as I thought it was but we were right about Tommy guys. We know what we're talking about. We don't know how long it will take or what will come between now and then but you all have got to stop sending doom posts to us. If you need to say it say it on your own blog. Nothing they have done has been subtle. The Tommy thing played out exactly like we said it would. EXACTLY LIKE WE SAID IT WOULD. Because they're being obvious. We're not going to get all the answers in one episode and I'm not spending the next 3 months talking people down from panic over every single thing one of them says or does. It's their job to sell you the NOW and right now they're not together, and as far as we know, neither character is aware of their feelings yet. Let them tell the story. But actors and show runners lie all the time in interviews. Because the interview isn't a lie in the present canon, which is what all of these interviews are talking about. Present canon. It's why they gave themselves the out of 'we don't know the future'. They do. But their characters don't and the interviews are from the perspective of their characters current canon situations. We got a win last night. Stop. Enjoy the win. Quit looking for reasons to be annoyed or upset because as far as 911 goes, you don't have any reason to not be excited. Last night was basically confirmation. 💗
Thank you for dropping this in my inbox Nonny!
Yep. YES to all of this.
When Oliver said that he wanted the characters to experience that slow burn kind of longing? He clearly said that he wanted the audience to experience that longing with them.
That's exactly what this is.
Isn't it beautiful? 😁
Heads up! For anyone who is giving me the shifty eyes for reposting Ali's updates instead of reblogging. Read this.

I'm going to take Oliver's recent interview as a sign that we'll see even more of Buck's intelligence in the upcoming episodes. I was thriving when we saw Buck be so capable during the beenado.
Also, I need more facts about whatever they're facing in the calls. I miss Buck's fun facts.

today’s thoughts are consumed by thinking about Oliver’s interview on the Zack Sang show. Very good interview overall Zack always does a fantastic job researching and asking good questions to his guests like me also being a One Direction and 5SOS fan I do enjoy the Louis interview and the 5SOS ones as well and even Niall has done a few in the past and now recently Luke had one talking about his second solo album
Anyways back to Oliver… love all the commentary on his part regarding the show and his view on Buck coming to terms with his sexuality in his 30s and how he viewed that himself when approached with the storyline and how he was very happy with the direction his character arc was taking. As I’ve mentioned before I did barely become obsessed with 911 in the span of a month now with yk seeing the trending storyline of Buck coming out as bisexual and seeing the positive response from the fans. Again what made me want to see the show was the Instagram story that Oliver posted concerning some of the negative feedback that was given and I do like how that was mentioned in the interview. I do appreciate how positive Oliver has been about the whole process and it’s very refreshing to see an actor be so devoted and dedicated to an amazing storyline about giving representation to a character and standing by it and all of the other queer representation in that has always been present in the show since the beginning.
also oliver saying he brings a cheekiness to buck that no one else can like yes completely agree 🫶🏻
and then the mention of the tsunami episode had me laughing cause yeah first watch those episodes had me balling my eyes out so him mentioning that people won’t visit the Santa Monica pier because of the episodes was very funny to me
and him mentioning coming to visit Portland because of the vegan options like yes come visit please 🙏🏻 (I live in the middle of nowhere Washington but I’ll make my way over if he ever goes lmao)
lol and the buddie mention at the end of the interview made my night when I watched that I was screaming but also Oliver I wanna hear your ideas my guy

This is an actor who is desperately trying to find the right answer that won't get him attacked online and, ultimately, pleasing no one
They need to do Oliver a solid and deal with the Bvddie Question before sending him out to do more interviews when he doesn't know anything about the story. Or at least give him a line he can repeat over and over and over so he has something to fall back on.
Surely the marketing/press department has a job in all of this.
Also—get better interviewers for your actors!

Thoughts on new article?
First thought: they should reread or watch the show because wtf? When did Nia come back?
Tumblr media
But this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This, to me, is confirmation that Buck is still with Tommy as of episode 8.
It also has me thinking with the use of "flux" and "velocity-wise" there are quite a few fast moving changes in Buck's personal life. This can be anything sure, but it also gives more validity to possibly moving in with Tommy, declaration of love, deep conversations...
Please note, Oliver never mentions Eddie 🤭

So I’ve been reading what you and others have said about Eddie saying he’s straight. And then the Ryan interviews with the brother and hetero and gf etc etc. and how it’s a misdirect and can’t spoil.
And I get that. That makes sense
But I guess I’m still confused because like the GA?
Fandom doesn’t need to be convinced of queer Eddie and buddie. We’re all for it. We look into these details and subtext etc.
But I thought the whole thing was getting the GA who doesn’t do those things primed and ready for it.
And I don’t see how them watching the episode with Eddie flat out declaring he’s straight. Followed up by interview after interview immediately after with Ryan also saying Eddie’s straight. He’s hetero. Bucks his brother. Maybe find a new girlfriend for Eddie eventually etc does that?
If anything they are the ones who are going to take all of that at face value. Ok the character stated his sexuality as straight. Ok the actor confirmed the characters sexuality is straight. And that just seems to be…the complete opposite of what they should be doing to the GA if they are heading for buddie?
And I’m sure some of the Ga will read between the lines sure. But for months it’s been soft launch hard launch get the GA ready and used to the idea. And this just seems like a course correct the other way which at best will just cause them all kinda of confusion and at worst make them go oh ok he’s straight guess nothing there after all.
Idk if any of that made sense 😅
It made perfect sense Nonny! 😋 I get it!
Thing is, these interviews aren't really written for the GA. The GA won't read a dozen different interviews from the same actors and the showrunner of a show they casually watch on a Thursday night. They don't follow the actors on social media and go nuts over every single scrap of bts we get. Some of them don't even have a clue who the actors are. They just know them as Buck and Eddie.
They tune in to 911 on Thursday, watch the show and move on to Doctor Odyssey (or something else if they don't like throuples 😉). They don't go out of their way to post about the show on social media and look up all the different online articles like we do.
These articles are written to engage the fandom. These websites know that they'll get lots of views from fandom people.
The GA only watches the show and they get their clues there. The GA aren't idiots. They have seen other shows with slow burns and they will pick up on some of the subtle clues. Some of them might have already been wondering if Eddie would turn out to be queer before episode 6, picking up on little clues.
Then episode 6 happened and it wasn't exactly subtle about where this story is going. Yes, Eddie did declare himself to be straight, but I'm sure that quite a few people were wondering why he said that. There was no need for him to declare his sexuality as the default is seen as 'everyone is straight' until proven otherwise (which is so dumb by the way, but whatever).
But I'm certain a lot of people have picked up on some of the obvious clues in that episode. That last scene was very LOUD as well. So a lot of people will start wondering if they'll have Buck and Eddie end up together, even the people who might never have thought of this before.
The show is slowly building up the story around buck and Eddie. There will be more clues in future episodes. More things to pick up on. It'll start really small, but it will build up more and more until it will be clear for everyone to see.
That's how you build up a good slow burn relationship.
Now, I'm sure there will always be people of the GA that don't pick up on anything and take anything at face value and I'm sure they might be surprised by queer Eddie. It happens. It's unavoidable.🤷‍♀️

So Oliver's newest interview dropped and it's a lot of the same things that he said in the (if my memory's correct in thinking this is the article I'm thinking of) US Weekly interview that came out after 8x01 aired. But I'm going through this interview because one, there's more details, and two, I didn't talk about that last interview because I was trying not to get any spoilers since I could only watch 8x01 on Friday due to Hulu.
So he talks about the bee-nado and how fun it is. And he touches upon how there's mixed reviews but he thinks it's fun and that the show being larger than life is where the show thrives. I agree, I think it's great to have a whimsy way to introduce an opening emergency and being silly is really where 9-1-1 shines.
The next thing Oliver talks about is about Buck wondering if he was trying to save Gerrard's life or trying to hurt him. Personally, I am so excited to see how Buck deals with the aftermath of it will be. Can't wait to see Buck agonize over whether or not he was trying to save Gerrard or not.
After that, Oliver talks about Bobby and Buck's attempts to bring Bobby back. What really caught my eye is the last sentence of that answer where Oliver says "he's [Buck] going to need him [Bobby] for what's to come over these next two episodes." I mean, like yeah, Buck needs Bobby still so that makes sense, but there's just something that makes me feel like Buck's going to need Bobby for more than what we think. I don't know how to explain it, but I feel like there's some more drama surrounding Buck that will make him need Bobby.
The next two sections are about Tommy, but they're like both one paragraph each, so I'm combining them. The first one's about the time skip between 7x10 and the beginning of season 8. Oliver says there's not that much of a time skip and they're still learning about each other. Nothing really new there, he said that in previous interviews. Something new that he talked about was that Tommy wouldn't be jealous of Buck and Eddie's close bond, which I mean, no other LI was really jealous of their bond. So this tracks.
Oliver's words about how it was painful for Buck for Chris to leave... Oh, it makes me feel so bad for Buck. Obviously it won't be the same pain as it is for Eddie, but it's there. And I'm glad Oliver acknowledged that.
So the next three things are about Buck's character development and so I'm just going to condense it all because this already so long. He said that he doesn't think Gerrard and seeing how he acts would make Buck stray away from becoming captain. He said that Buck will become more assured and he talked about episode five being one of his favorite episodes. Which to me, will just make me want to see episode five even more. I can't wait for it.
And that's the end of the questions he was asked and that he answered. All in all, I'm still very excited to see where the rest of the season goes for Buck. I think there's a lot more that will happen with Buck than we originally thought would happen during the first three episodes, so I'm excited to see them.

The response has been beautiful - like I can’t tell you how many wonderful messages I received from people who are openly queer and people who are not openly queer, which has been really amazing for me to see. I’ve received messages from firefighters who have said, “I’m not out and seeing this means the world to me.” I could never in a million years of expected to be getting those messages, so it’s very humbling and just a really amazing experience for me to get to be a part of that.
